hello, world

So, what’s Teeny Tiny?

Glad you asked.

teenytiny.computer started off as a small experiment in helping agents use computers better.

We had spent the past few months building box3.sh, a self-hosted inference platform for small shops to run agents internally.

While doing so, we ran into a more important problem. There were thousands of knobs to turn and optimise on an inference engine, but there was a big gap between how useful agents were perceived to be and how useful they actually were.

But aren’t agents super smart? Like, smart ’nuff to solve Navier–Stokes and shit?

Yes, yes they are, at least in the domain of software factories and other knowledge work.

Then why aren’t they super useful?

I think it boils down to the environment. An agent is only as good as the environment it runs in. Call it whatever you want:

  • A sandbox
  • A VM
  • An agent cloud
  • An agent substrate
  • A machine

We tried them all. We just couldn’t find a simple, scalable, secure environment for our agents to operate in. Most ticked one or two of those boxes, but never all three.

And hence we set out to build machines that humans and agents both love.

MVP?#

Umm, we are getting there.

As it stands today, we offer:

  • A full-fledged Linux virtual machine in the cloud, with the fastest GUI experience. Persistent, ofc.
  • A coding harness that you can use to leverage these VMs: to build and serve applications, and to try them in a shared browser that the agent can drive too.
  • An easy way to bring over your AI subscriptions and use them in the harness and on the machine.

You can compare us with other platforms at teenytiny.computer/compare.

We have had over 100 folks come try out our tiny computers, and many have really liked the experience so far!

It’s the tiniest details we have spent our time on, so do come check out the platform and build your next big thing (or smol one; we don’t discriminate xP).

If the idea seems interesting, or if it’s something you’re exploring as well, do hit us up at hello@teenytiny.computer. We’d love to understand what you’re building and see if we can help you out. If nothing else, we can share notes!

Onwards#

We have a general sense of where we’re heading, experiments to split hairs over, and some specific features on the roadmap that we’re extremely excited to ship soon!

So that’s Teeny Tiny: an environment for all your computing needs, personal and agentic alike.

Pixel art at sunset. On a desk, an old beige all-in-one computer. Coloured pixels, one for each part of a Teeny Tiny machine, fly from it to a bigger computer standing on a cloud, with the Teeny Tiny invader on its screen and a speech bubble saying hello, world. Above it, a Space Invaders formation marches.
The one computer you love, and a thousand when you need them.
